ScribeArts is a platform dedicated to the preservation, study, and transmission of the Maghribi–Andalusian calligraphic and manuscript tradition. Through artistic practice, historical research, facsimile editions, and educational programs, the platform seeks to revive and reinterpret the rich manuscript heritage of the Islamic West for contemporary audiences.
Founder
Badr Essaihi
Badr Essaihi is a calligrapher and researcher specializing in Maghribi and Andalusian scripts. Trained in both traditional calligraphy and Islamic arts, his work combines artistic practice with scholarly research into the history, aesthetics, and development of Maghribi manuscript culture. Through teaching, publications, and artistic projects, he contributes to the preservation and transmission of this tradition internationally.
Vision
ScribeArts is founded upon the conviction that manuscript heritage remains a living source of artistic and intellectual inspiration. By studying historical manuscripts and engaging their aesthetic principles, the platform develops artistic works, educational resources, facsimile editions, and research projects that support the continued understanding and appreciation of the Maghribi manuscript tradition.
Education
Courses and workshops offered through ScribeArts provide students with structured training in Maghribi calligraphy, combining historical knowledge, technical practice, and contemporary pedagogical approaches. Programs are available both online and in person, welcoming students from around the world.
